What is a casino? Games, bonuses and account basics
What is a casino? It is a venue or online service offering gambling games such as slots, baccarat and roulette. This guide explains game rules, RTP and account balances before you explore payments, verification or bonus conditions.
What is a casino?
A casino offers gambling games such as slots, baccarat, roulette and blackjack. An online casino provides games through a website or app; live casino streams tables with a human dealer. Stakes can be lost, and bonus balances usually carry conditions before withdrawal.
How do slots, baccarat and live casino differ?
A game name describes its rules; “live” describes how a table is streamed to the player. Baccarat can be played at a live table, so these are not mutually exclusive categories.
| Term | Meaning | Check in the game |
|---|---|---|
| Slots | Reel games that pay according to symbol combinations and their own rules. | Paytable, stake size, bonus purchase features and promotion exclusions. |
| Baccarat | Compares Player and Banker hands; the hand closer to 9 wins under the table rules. | Minimum stake, commission and payouts for each betting option. |
| Live casino | A video stream of a table with a dealer or game host. | Language, table rules, betting window and video quality. |
Balance, bonus and wagering mean different things
The displayed balance is not necessarily the amount available to withdraw. Distinguish cash, bonus funds and the balance eligible for withdrawal in the account. Wagering is the cumulative amount of qualifying stakes required by the offer, not a prediction of losses or winnings.
Game contribution is not the chance of winning. At 5% contribution, a 100,000 VND stake credits 5,000 VND toward the wagering requirement. Check the calculation basis too: “bonus” differs from “deposit plus bonus”.
Seven terms used in casino rules
RNG concerns outcome generation, RTP describes long run return, and wagering concerns bonus conditions. Read them separately so a game statistic is not mistaken for money available to withdraw.
| Term | Meaning | Common misreading |
|---|---|---|
| RNG | A random number generator used to determine outcomes in games using RNG. | Not a live dealer or a winning percentage. |
| RTP | A game’s average return over a large number of plays. | Not a refund percentage for your session. |
| Paytable | Which outcomes pay and how the payout is calculated. | The highest payout does not reveal its probability. |
| Table limits | Minimum and maximum stakes for the table or bet type. | Not the account’s withdrawal limit. |
| Bonus contribution | The share of a stake credited toward bonus wagering. | Not RTP or withdrawable cash. |
| Withdrawable balance | The portion the account allows you to request for withdrawal under its terms. | Not necessarily the displayed cash and bonus total. |
| House edge | The casino’s mathematical advantage in the rules, expressed as an average amount retained. | Not a forecast of your own loss. |
See the 5% bonus contribution example to distinguish stakes from credited wagering.
For its British standards, the UK Gambling Commission explains RNG requirements. An RNG label alone does not establish that a game or operator has been independently tested.
Read the specific game rules before comparing
Start with the rules and paytable for the specific game version. The name “baccarat” or “roulette” does not tell you every payout, commission or side bet condition.
- Open the help or rules for the table you are viewing. Identify the game, provider, bet type and minimum and maximum stakes.
- Read the paytable alongside tie, commission and side bet rules. Check whether the payout includes the original stake; do not infer it from a large figure in an advertisement.
- If using bonus funds, match the game name against the offer’s eligible games, contribution rate and maximum stake. A table can accept cash play without qualifying for a promotion.
This is a way to read conditions, not a winning strategy. The UKGC standard on game rules and descriptions informs the checks above; it does not establish a listed casino’s licensing status.
Can RTP predict one playing session?
No. RTP is an average over many plays, not a refund promise for a session. House edge is also a long run concept; see the UK Gambling Commission explanation of RTP and house edge.
When comparing, record the specific version and game rules instead of assigning one RTP to an entire website. Read bonus contribution separately in the promotion terms.

Casino questions answered
Does casino mean only baccarat?
No. Baccarat is one casino game. Slots, roulette, blackjack and Sic Bo each have their own rules; the actual selection depends on the operator and account.
Does RTP tell me how much I will get back?
No. RTP describes theoretical return over a very large number of plays. It does not predict the result of one session or guarantee your balance.
Does one successful withdrawal guarantee the next?
No. A Colanquan test records an individual transaction in its specific context. Method, amount, verification and account conditions can change another withdrawal’s timeline.
